In July 2022, in collaboration with other Down syndrome organizations, NDSS submitted a joint letter to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) expressing the Down syndrome community’s need to have access to more than one PET scan per lifetime. On July 17, 2023, CMS released the proposed decision on coverage for Amyloid PET imaging which removes the one scan per lifetime coverage policy and allows coverage determinations to be made by the Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs). In collaboration with other Down syndrome organizations, NDSS submitted a response letter to the proposed decision. Click the PDF below to read more:
