On February 21, 2024, Representatives Murphy (R – NC), Davis (D – NC), and Hudson (R – NC) reintroduced the Ensuring Pathways to Innovative Cures (EPIC) Act (H.R. 1492). On March 5th, Senators Tillis (R – NC), Budd (R – NC), Blackburn (R – TN), Lankford (R – OK), and Daines (R – MT) introduced the Senate companion bill (S. 832). If passed, the EPIC Act would ensure that two equally important and impactful types of drugs – small and large molecule drugs – are treated equally under the law and the development of one is not prioritized over the other.
