The National Down Syndrome Society of America introduced the Buddy Walk® in 1995 to celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness Month in October and to promote the acceptance and inclusion of people with Down Syndrome. Since its inception, the Buddy Walk® has become the foremost global advocacy event for Down Syndrome. It has also emerged as the most widely acknowledged public awareness initiative for the global Down Syndrome community.
