On November 7, 2024, Dana Sciullo, the Manager of Health Programs for the National Down Syndrome Society, participated in an invitation-only panel discussion with representatives from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The NIH is updating their strategic plan surrounding disability research and sought input from members of advocacy organizations and those with lived experience. She shared the importance of inclusion in research, some of the major barriers that currently exist, and the potential collaboration opportunities that exist between the NIH and advocacy organizations.
