NDSS Urges National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine to Reconsider Advisory Committee on Alzheimer’s Research

The National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) recently published the proposed advisory committee for the consensus study “Research Priorities for Preventing and Treating Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias.” Unfortunately, none of the proposed committee members have an expertise in supporting, researching, or treating individuals with Down syndrome and Alzheimer’s disease. Given the genetic link between Down syndrome and Alzheimer’s disease, NDSS has strongly urged NASEM to reconsider the nominations with the goal of adding an additional committee member with expertise in Down syndrome and Alzheimer’s disease.
