National Down Syndrome Society Legislative Priorities Included In Upcoming House Energy And Commerce Subcommittee On Health Hearing

Washington, D.C. (February 9, 2024) – On February 14th, the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health will host a hearing titled “Legislative Proposals to Support Patients and Caregivers.” Several legislative priorities of the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) will be included in the hearing:  the Charlotte Woodward Organ Transplant Discrimination Prevention Act, the NAPA Reauthorization Act, the DeOndra Dixon INCLUDE Project Act, and the Congenital Heart Futures Reauthorization Act. NDSS applauds the Subcommittee on Health for including these priorities and working to ensure nondiscrimination in our country’s healthcare system.

“It is paramount that these legislative priorities are heard by the Subcommittee and advanced in order to safeguard the rights of the Down syndrome community,” says Kandi Pickard, President and CEO of NDSS. “We are eager to work with members of Congress to see these priorities through the hearing and passed into law.”
