On July 24, 2025, Senators Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and Eric Schmitt (R-MO) and Representatives Sharice Davids (D-KS) and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA) introduced the ABLE Employment Flexibility Act (S. 2459 / H.R. 4644). If passed, this legislation would allow employers to make contributions towards their employee's ABLE accounts in lieu of payments towards retirement plans. This would be crucial for members of the Down syndrome community with ABLE accounts, as it would allow them to achieve greater financial independence through increased contributions.
