On February 19, 2025, Senators Schmitt (R – MO) and Van Hollen (D – MD) and Representatives Smucker (R – PA) and Beyer (D – VA) reintroduced the Ensuring Nationwide Access to a Better Life Experience (ENABLE) Act (S. 627/H.R. 1436). Currently, three provisions of the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act that bolster ABLE accounts are set to expire at the end of 2025. These provisions include ABLE to Work enhancement, the ABLE savers credit and 529 to ABLE rollover provision. If passed, the ENABLE Act would make these benefits permanent, allowing ABLE accounts to be utilized to their fullest extent by individuals with disabilities to save money for their futures.
